Declaration of ethics and good publishing practices
The Revista O Universo Observavel is a periodical with scientific arbitration, aiming to ensure the highest standards of ethics in publication. Therefore, the agreement of the agents involved in the publication process — Editors, Editorial Committee, Scientific Board, ad-hoc reviewers and Authors — in relation to ethical behavior standards is relevant and necessary. Taking as a reference the Code of Conduct and Standards of Good Practice for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), https://publicationethics.org/, the following principles are considered.
Editors are responsible for:
• Decide on the publication of submitted works, based on the journal’s policies;• Ensure that all evaluation and publication processes are respected;
• Inform authors and referees about peer review processes;• Ensure a fair and impartial evaluation of results by peers;
• Select suitable referees;• Ensure that the identities of reviewers are protected;• Publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies whenever necessary;
• Consult members of the editorial committee periodically to ask for their opinions on the functioning of the magazine and inform them of any changes in magazine policies and identify future challenges.
The members of the Editorial Committee are responsible for:
• Contribute to the development and good management of the magazine;
• Help publicize the magazine;• Help editors make decisions about the magazine.
The authors are responsible for:
• Take responsibility for the content of the article;• Participate in evaluation processes;
• Ensure that all listed co-authors have participated in the research in a meaningful way, in addition to ensuring consensus among all co-authors in approving the final version and submitting it for publication;
• Ensure that the work has not been submitted to more than one publication at the same time, and that the work has not been published in another journal;• Communicate to the editors if any error or inaccuracy is detected in the published work, so that it can be corrected;
• Be aware that plagiarism constitutes unacceptable unethical behavior.
Evaluators are responsible for:
• Assist editors in their decisions;• Suggest improvements in the work submitted by the author;
• Communicate to the editors if they do not feel qualified to review the submitted text;
• Inform the editors if you are aware of copyright infringement and/or plagiarism by the author;
• Refuse to carry out the evaluation if they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative relationships or connections with any of the authors or institutions linked to the articles.
Artificial intelligence (AI)
If the authors have used Artificial Intelligence (AI), a clarification of recognition regarding this use must be sent.When clarifying the use of AI, the author(s) must point out in detail where and how it was used. For example, for translating or reviewing standards and spelling.Materials that have been developed using AI will not be accepted: texts, bibliographic reviews, or any other mechanisms that may compromise the accuracy of the material as scientific.
Plagiarism
RT checks through its editors and evaluators whether texts submitted to the magazine are plagiarized. If plagiarism is detected, the text will be removed from the evaluation process.
